This couse is in English and suits everyone who is interested in Jewish history and culture, or in the Middle East, who plans a visit there or simply wants to learn about a new script and language. Hebrew is written right-to-left and in most cases without vowels, as if the word “Berlin” were written as ‘nlrb’. On the other hand there is no distinction between small and capitalized letters. The aim of the course is also to enable you to conduct a simple conversation. We will learn the correct pronunciation as well as the first important words and phrases, and do practical exercises which will make you directly apply what you have learnt.
